How to win on BrandPotion
2010, Feb 04 So now that you've made your first ad, and
uploaded it on BrandPotion, how do you ensure that you win?
Well, apart from the actual process of
making the ad, where you should be paying close attention to the brief,
checking out a brand's previous ads to understand what they like, and putting a
lot of thought into your ad, there
are a number of things you can do to win on BrandPotion.
Since the best way to win on BrandPotion is
by getting votes, here's a step-by-step list of stuff you can do to get your ad
voted for.
Step 1: Make an ad and upload it to
BrandPotion. Check.
Step 2: Go vote for your own ad.
Step 3: Copy the link to your ad and mail
it to your friends. Else, use the easy forwarding link on your ad's page.
Step 4: Tell your friends to vote for you! Do ask them to comment as well, as it validates their votes.
Step 5: Link the ad to Facebook, Orkut or
Twitter, so you can get even more people to vote for you.
That should help you garner votes from
people outside of BrandPotion's community as well.
As for the community, give and you shall
receive. Talk to people. Check others' portfolios and their work on the
competitions. If you must criticise, do so constructively.

@ Vardhini, misty09 & neha2007: Thanks for your suggestions. We’ve already got a system in place that, in cases where there are community prizes as well as brand prizes, rewards both community-selected ads as well as jury-selected ads. In cases where there is only community voting and a small amount of votes, we have also implemented a weightage to the opinion of our panel of judges. Always vote for your favourite ads and invite other people to do the same! That’s your real opportunity to make sure the ads you like are winning.

Love the concept of the site and the innovations that come with it. But i am afraid i have to agree with a few others on this forum who have questioned the idea of winning through votes. The competitions certainly whet my appetite for creativity but I would appreciate it a lot more if the modus operandi involved in the judgement of winners is foolproof.

Nice site for newbies like me but
Replythere should be panel of judges rather than voting,,

Hey great idea of upholding competitions for creative newbies like me. But i agree with SAIN. When you guys say that the ad with most votes wins, then where does the creativity come into the picture?? Or is it like the votes form only one part of the game and the other judging comes from serious judges??!!

@kanishkbohra: Well, since there is a prize, this does look like a competition. Competitions are marketing strategies too, right? However, this offers the brand more as well, and the winner gets a prize and exposure too!
@Akkinepally: You’ve got the right idea, though we’re hoping the prizes are good incentives too : )

Great way of making cool bucks by creating mad rush to the site, and clicks, yet we are here to fulfill our creative passion rather than your monetary benefits, no restrictions of boss, no mad changes of superiors. we’ll see

Who will judge entries? Winner will be decided based on votes & comments or by judges or by client???

While the number of friends you have on BrandPotion will make a difference to the amount of votes you get, truly creative work will obviously be recognised.
ReplyWe’d say that more than making friends, it’s important to build your reputation on BrandPotion as a creative person. This will ensure that while you receive votes from your friends, you also receive votes from the rest of the community.
